"All men have need of the gods." (Homer)

Religion, and religious conflict, are as old as man. In our modern day crisis of extremism and polemical rhetoric, is it not our universal responsibility to educate ourselves on cultures and religions we do not understand?

Study religious wars, the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, the Reformation, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the battle for Jerusalem.

Consider the anthropological aspect of religion and why human beings need it?  Study the sacred texts of the Torah, the Bible and the Koran and decide for yourself what the words mean.

Only through understanding the history of religion and conflict can we truly solve the relentless tide of fundamentalism which threatens our way of life.
